2022 Goal Setting: Review - Reflect - and Reset

 Hello Spartan Warriors,

We're walking into February 2022 but before we take the leap into a new day or new month let's acknowledge the progress and abundance we received in January 2022. You might be thinking why is 2022 being added after month and the answer is easy. We get one opportunity to make the most of each moment, day, week, month, and year. The reflection moment is how we will seize the time we have been given by the Lord.

Let's talk about the way the Spartan Leadership Institute warriors took our lives to the next level. Our 2022 Goal Setting Workshop started our new year on a great start. We examined what are our personal and professional goals we're aspiring to achieve. Setting a goal is the easy part. It's the action, motivation, and consistent pursuit that requires the grit of a warrior.

Our 2022 Goal Setting Workshop was designed using my goal dumping method and the S.M.A.R.T goal method designed by George Doran. However, Ken Blanchard in the Leadership and the One Minute Manager offers a similar S.M.A.R.T method. Both methods are life changing. I've combined both methods that best suit my personality and goal pursuits.

S (Specific) - what specifically do you want to accomplish?

M (Motivating) - what is going to keep you motivated?

A  (Achievable) - are you in complete control of reaching this goal?

R (Relevant)- does the goal fit into your current lifestyle and long-term life plan?

T (Trackable) - how are you going to track your process including milestone and deadlines?

The workshop and monthly Spartan Leadership Institute (SLI) tribe activities help surround ourselves of like-minded warriors that are determined to achieve, succeed, and own our actions.

The start of a new year, new month, new week, new day is a mindset to recharge, reset, reflect, and ramp up to live on our own terms and set our daily intentions towards the women we are destine to be.

2 Timothy 1:7 for God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.

There was an article I read and shared with the SLI tribe from the University of Stanton that states only 8% of people achieve their goals. I interrupted the article that everyone has good intentions and the desire to achieve their personal and professional goals but something didn't align with their actions and motivation.

The Spartan Warriors are apart of the 8% because we define our goals, surround ourselves with an encouraging tribe, and set an intentional mindset daily.

Pursing personal and professional goals is not for the weak, easily distracted, or lazy. Goals are for people who are tired of living a mediocre life that does not feel fulfilling and have a aching feeling of more, better, faster and higher meaning in their spirit.

The SLI tribe celebrated a quote we found and it spoke to us and championed our continued efforts - no one is you & that is your power _ anonymous

The days rolled on and January 31 quickly approached and looking back it felt like the month happen in a blink of an eye. Now it was time for the truth.

January 31, 2022 was officially time to reflect and this meant to pull out all the planners, journals, and calendars and review our January 1, 2022 goals.

This is a very magical time for me and has been ritual for over 20 years to review my yearly, monthly, and daily goals to determine if I accomplished my goals, on track to hit my milestones, or off track and I need to switch gears fast.

Can't stop won't stop - Melissa Ann

The most important technique is to write down what goals where accomplished so we visually see our accomplishments, feel the achievements, and experience the gratitude it will fuel our continued process. It's also a time to reflect if we're off track of your goal. The SLI warriors don't beat up ourselves up but take ownership, define our plan and goals, adjust our crowns and create a new fire.

We only fail if we give up and stop trying.

Philippians 4:6 don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything.

In summary, reaching our goals is a individual and tribe effort. I always hear that saying, "it takes a village" Our goals require individual actions on a moment to moment basis. However, it take a supportive community to encourage, motivative and provide honest feedback to move mountains.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
